Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) "To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.

Today I concluded that: Consumerism will be the death of me, and sadly (maybe?) my community.
Though I try to fight it regularly, however, constantly I find myself in the stores purchasing YET another pair of jeans...which is unnecessary for a person who owns over 40 pairs of BLUE jeans ( i am sick and i know it )
I have previously worked in retail and I know first hand how consumerism plagues not just individuals or groups, but society as a whole.
Consumerism not only eats money but it consumes values as well.
Its addictive... I have to spend money....daily...finding a reason to go to the store to by something whether its needed or not!
as my good friend knows me to say... 2007 is not going to be about that...
my money will be better controlled, better spent, and better used.
Not only for my benefit, it shows retailers that I care about where my dollar goes which benefits not only me but my community, it also allows me to become a CAREFUL CONSUMER... who actually researches the market and understands the true power and value of her dollar.
